Google showed off its GeoEye-1 satellite by releasing hi-res images from President Obama’s inauguration Tuesday. The satellite will soon produce images for Google Maps and Google Earth.

The latest version of the KDE desktop environment, mostly used on Linux, arrived last week (4.2 RC1), with the final product due on 22 January. We had a peek inside to see what this overhaul offers.

Back in the day, some said ISDN was a good alternative to dial-up Internet, in which you could get blazing fast speeds of up to 128k or so. Alas, ISDN, while still useful in some business circumstances, has gone by the dusty consumer wayside along with dial-up, Beta tapes, and LP albums. The Amazon Kindle comes with decent black leather case, but it doesn’t do a very good job of holding the device securely in place when the front flap is opened. There is also no backlighting on the Kindle so you need good lighting to read with the device. M-Edge has two solutions that integrate with each other to address both of these issues and I was pleased to finally find such an elegant solution.
