Prime Day is back, and it's the perfect occasion to get a new external storage device in any number of form factors, capacities and intended purposes.

With the COVID-19 pandemic beginning to abate, Amazon Prime Day is back on schedule this year, and packed with deals on essentials like external storage. SSDs, hard drives, flash drives and SD cards are all available at deep discounts on June 21 and 22, and here are some of the best.

Sure, it's a regular spinning hard drive and not a solid state disk, but this price for 5TB of portable storage is a great deal, especially when that price is 38% off the usual for Prime Day.

This miniscule 2.5" x 2.7" SSD isn't cheap, even on Prime day, but its size and 4TB capacity make it a great deal for those looking for a pocketable external storage device that's 41% off the regular retail price.

Capable of speeds up to 1,050MB/s, able to withstand a 2-meter drop, and an IP55 rating make this portable drive a great deal for those needing 2TB storage that can take a beating. I own one of these drives and can personally say it has been a great investment.

Corsair 256GB Flash Survivor Stealth

Speaking of drives that can handle rough treatment, the Flash Survivor Stealth by Corsair may only have 256GB of capacity, but that capacity is stored inside an anodized aluminum housing with an EPDM water seal good to 200 meters. Toss in shock and vibration resistance and you have a USB flash drive practically capable of surviving an apocalypse.

SanDisk 1TB Ultra MicroSDXC

I still remember when school computers used eight-inch floppy disks with 1.2MB of capacity, or just one 833,333rd of this fingernail-sized 1TB SanDisk MicroSDXC. When you think about it that way, the Prime Day deal on this SD card is a real steal.

Sunany 256GB USB Flash Drive

Need a flash drive that can plug in to an iPhone, Android device, USB-A port or USB-C? This one has you covered, and all but one of those ports are built right into its hardware. An external adapter enables USB-C on this port-flexible drive; out one end pops an iPhone port, and on the other side is a USB-A port that can fold back to reveal a Micro USB. It's everything you need in one package.

Anker PowerExpand 4-in-1 SSD USB-C Hub

Problem: Your laptop has limited ports, and attaching an external storage device means not being able to attach other essential accessories. If you opt for this 256GB SSD, that's not a problem. Not only is it a USB-C drive that supports passthrough charging to an attached laptop, it also acts as a hub with 2 USB-A ports and an HDMI port as well.
